A person of interest was taken into custody Sunday as part of an intense manhunt after the fatal shooting of a Memphis police officer during a traffic stop.
Dispatchers received a call at 9:18 p.m. Saturday about an officer being shot multiple times, Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong said at a news conference before the apparent break in the case. The officer, identified as Sean Bolton, 33, died at a local hospital.
“There is a theme that black lives matter,” a sullen Armstrong, who is black, said Sunday. “At the end of the day, we have to ask ourselves, do all lives matter? All lives matter … and this is just a reminder of how dangerous this job is.”
