Trump’s withdrawal of guidance on transgender student rights leaves bathroom questions up to schools and states

After the Trump administration revoked federal guidelines on transgender student rights, officials from New York to Washington to Tulsa, Okla., moved quickly this week to assure their communities that they would continue to allow students to use school bathrooms aligned with their gender identity.

But other districts had never complied with the Obama administration’s guidance after it was issued in May — and they don’t plan to do so now.
