The Kansas City Chiefs are headed to their first Super Bowl in 50 years, and the play of quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the biggest reason why they have achieved such success. Over the past two seasons, Mahomes has become a household name all over America, but what many people still don’t realize is that he is a very strong Christian…
“My faith has always been a big part of what I do… I’ve grown up in church and faith really helps you know why you’re playing the game, and who you’re doing it for,” he told FSPN.
He also tweeted, “Man this is crazy! God is amazing! Thank you to everyone who has supported me and helped me get here!”
In everything that we do, we should be doing it for God.
And the fact that Mahomes is not just playing for fame and fortune means a great deal to so many of us. He has an opportunity to point millions of his fans to the Lord Jesus, and that is an incredible platform to have.
Mahomes is also blessed to be playing for a team owner that is also a very strong believer.
In fact, when the Chiefs won the AFC Championship Game, Clark Hunt gave all the glory to the Lord…
This will be Kansas City’s first Super Bowl appearance in fifty years. At the trophy presentation, Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said, “I want to thank the Lord for blessing us, the Glory belongs to Him.”
And Hunt has been quoted as saying that he wants everyone that is a part of the Chiefs to “develop spiritually”…
“We want our employees to develop spiritually,” Hunt said. “In the National Football League, Christ is really glorified. My identity is my faith in Christ.”
The Kansas City Chiefs stadium offers a chapel service for people at the games and chaplaincy is part of the association.
Praise God for such an incredible witness, and many of us will definitely be rooting for the Chiefs when Super Bowl Sunday rolls around.
