Marty Breeden: “Some accuse me of being too hard on the church”

Marty Breeden posted the following message on his Facebook account earlier today, and I have to say that it really resonated with me.  I hope that it resonates with you as well…

Some accuse me of being too hard on the church.
Jesus was hard on the church, read the first 3 chapters of Revelation.
I love my brethren, and we know the church is not a building it’s the body of Christ, the people.

Having said that my friends…
We are falling WAY SHORT!!!!

I read the Book of Acts, about the early church and we hardly resemble them even remotely!
I read about Stephen in Acts 7 and he was nothing more than the ‘Head caterer”, yet there are over 70 verses attributed to him as he took on the Sanhedrin and theologically took them apart!!

It cost him his life!
But even our “hot shot, Johnny Darling” preachers and evangelist of today can’t match Stephen’s anointing or the power of God that he walked in!

Somewhere my friends, we are MISSING IT!
I read about a rag tag group of tax collectors and fisherman, the disciples and what was said of them in Acts 4:13:
“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus!”

They didn’t have nice facilities and light shows, and great talented musicians and programs but Acts 17 tells us these men
“TURNED THE WORLD UPSIDE DOWN!”

My friends, we need to get rid of the distractions…
I PERSONALLY need to get rid of the distractions!!
There is a lost and dying world out there who need to see the power of God through both word and deed and so far….we are NOT getting it done!
I’m NOT getting it done!!

Let us ALL return to our “first love” and impact our generation, AMEN?
