Days Of Lot: New Survey Finds That Evangelical Christian Support For Gay Marriage Has More Than Doubled

A new survey just released by the Pew Research Center has found that support for gay marriage in the United States is at an all-time record high.  According to the survey, 62 percent of all Americans are now in favor of allowing gays and lesbians to get married, and only 32 percent are opposed.  These numbers have almost flipped completely upside down from where they were a decade ago.  In 2007, 54 percent of all Americans were against gay marriage and only 37 percent were in favor of it.  To say that our culture has been transformed over the past ten years would be a major understatement.

One of the biggest shifts that we have seen has been among evangelicals.  This brand new survey discovered that support for gay marriage among white evangelicals has more than doubled since 2007…

Support for same-sex marriage has risen across all religious groups in recent years, including among white evangelicals and black Protestants. Support for same sex-marriage among white Evangelicals has more than doubled compared with a decade ago (14% then, 35% now), while the share of black Protestants who favor same-sex marriage has increased from 24% in 2007 to 44% today.

In particular, the shift in favor of gay marriage among evangelicals has been most noticeable among young people.  Today, a staggering 47 percent of all white evangelicals born after 1964 favor gay marriage

Overall, white evangelical Protestants continue to stand out for their opposition to same-sex-marriage: 35% of white evangelical Protestants favor same-sex marriage, compared with a 59% majority who are opposed. But younger white evangelicals have grown more supportive: 47% of white evangelical Millennials and Gen Xers – age cohorts born after 1964 – favor same-sex marriage, up from 29% in March 2016. Views among older white evangelicals (Boomers and Silents) have shown virtually no change over the past year (26% now, 25% then).

I honestly don’t know how this is possible.

How in the world did we get to the point where nearly half of all evangelicals born since 1964 have abandoned what the Word of God says about marriage?

As this massive cultural shift continues, it is going to become increasingly difficult for those that still want to try to stand up for traditional values.

Already, we have gotten to the point where no Bible-believing Christians will be able to participate in the wedding industry because the risk of getting slapped with a very costly lawsuit is just too great.  One of these cases is headed to the Supreme Court, and so let us be praying for a positive outcome…

Jack Phillips and his Masterpiece Cakeshop in Lakewood, Colorado had never had problems before with homosexual customers. That changed when the Christian owner refused to create a cake to celebrate a same-sex marriage, the business landed in deep legal trouble with the state.

Now the U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to take up Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission.

It pits Phillips’ religious rights against the rights of a gay couple to receive the same and equal treatment under the law as heterosexual couples.

Today, the average American watches approximately five hours of television a day, and more than 90 percent of the news and entertainment that we watch is controlled by just six gigantic media conglomerates.  All of those media giants are relentlessly advancing a pro-gay agenda, and we need to realize what is being done to us.

If you allow anyone to feed “programming” into your mind for five house a day, it is going to have a major impact on how you view the world.

This is particularly true of the next generation.  Our children are being raised to fully embrace the social agenda of the radical left, and eventually they are going to become the leaders of tomorrow.

Our hearts should break when we read about young kids such as 9-year-old Audrey Cisneros

But Audrey is realizing it’s not an easy thing for people to understand — especially her fellow fifth-graders. Here’s how she puts it:

“A drag show is a very, very fun and special event where people can express themselves for who they really are, and show it to everyone that is in the room. You don’t judge people just because they dress up as the opposite gender or because they love someone of the same gender. Just be proud of them, don’t fight it.”

On Saturday, Audrey and other children attend a drag queen story hour hosted by My LGBT Plus. Similar events have been held across the country, aiming to familiarize kids with the gay community and give them “glamorous, positive and unabashedly queer role models.”

On the other hand, children all over the country are being banned from bringing Bibles to school or gathering for group prayer.

Eventually it will get to the point where our children can’t even say grace before a meal.  If you doubt this, just check out what is happening in Sweden

Children at a Christian preschool in Sweden are no longer allowed to say grace at mealtimes, “Amen”, or talk about the Bible, after a ruling by the Umeå municipality.

Visiting the preschool for an inspection, supervisors from the district said the activities run contrary to the Education Act, which forbids educational content during school time from containing confessional elements, and states that children at must always have the choice of whether or not to participate.

The municipality said it felt that children at the Salvation Army-run kindergarten were not given enough of an opportunity to opt out of saying grace at mealtimes.

When I say that the radical left wants to eradicate our way of life, I am not exaggerating one bit.

The left does not believe in free speech and the marketplace of ideas.  Instead, they believe in hate speech laws and using the legal system as a tool to punish those that do not see things the same way that they do.

Slowly but surely, they are going to criminalize the belief systems of those that disagree with them.

Meanwhile, much of the evangelical church is silent on these issues.  Many leaders are concerned that if they do speak out that attendance will go down and offerings will not be as large as they were previously.

If evangelical churches had been boldly proclaiming the truth all this time, support for gay marriage among evangelicals would not have doubled over the past decade.

If we want America to repent and turn in a positive direction, it begins with us, and it is about time that we got started.

Based On Current Trends, It Is Only A Matter Of Time Before The Gay Population In The U.S. Is Larger Than The Evangelical Population

The LGBT population in the United States is on the rise, and meanwhile the number of evangelicals is on the decline.  For now, evangelicals still greatly outnumber those that identify as LGBT, but if current trends continue it is only a matter of time before the size of the gay population actually surpasses the size of the evangelical population.  The primary reason for this is the enormous cultural shift that is taking place among our young people.  Millennials are much less likely to identify as “evangelical” than the general population as a whole, but they are more than twice as likely to identify as LGBT.  Unless something dramatic happens, the percentage of LGBT Americans will continue to increase and the percentage of evangelical Americans will continue to fall as older Americans slowly die off.

Many evangelicals and many that identify as LGBT will get angry when you bring up these numbers.  A lot of evangelicals want to continue to believe the myth that America is still a “moral country”, but that stopped being true a long time ago.  And many of those that identify as LGBT do not want to accept the fact that more people are choosing to be gay because they want to maintain the narrative that “people are born that way”.

But the numbers don’t lie.  According to Gallup, the percentage of Americans that identify as LGBT has been steadily rising for years.  Just check out these numbers

2012: 3.5 percent

2013: 3.6 percent

2014: 3.7 percent

2015: 3.9 percent

2016: 4.1 percent

And the numbers are much more pronounced when you look only at Millennials…

2012: 5.8 percent

2013: 6.0 percent

2014: 6.3 percent

2015: 6.7 percent

2016: 7.3 percent

As this figure continues to trend up, it won’t be very long until 10 percent of all Millennials openly identify as LGBT.  And already, Millennials are about twice as likely as the rest of the population to consider themselves to be gay.  The following comes from Gallup

Millennials are more than twice as likely as any other generation to identify as LGBT. In 2012, they accounted for 43% of LGBT-identified adults. As a result of their disproportionate increases in identification since then, they now account for 58%. Millennials comprise 32% of the general adult population.

But these days, it isn’t just a choice between “gay” or “straight” that we are talking about.  In fact, Time Magazine reported on a survey that found that approximately one-third of all Millennials consider themselves to be somewhere between “exclusively homosexual” and “exclusively heterosexual”…

When pollsters asked Americans last year how they would identify on the Kinsey Scale—a six point rating spanning from “exclusively homosexual” to “exclusively heterosexual”—about a third of millennials pointed somewhere in the “non-binary” middle, compared to about 8% of people over the age of 45.

So the findings of that survey would suggest that there is a whole lot more same-sex attraction going on among Millennials than many of the “experts” had been thinking.

Another survey of all age groups in America discovered that “about 20 percent of the population is attracted to their own gender.”  So it is important to remember that people can experience same-sex attraction and yet not identify as LGBT.

No matter what side of the debate you are on, everybody should be able to agree that more people are “coming out of the closet” than every before.  And there are still many that are “in the closet”, and so a lot of surveys still typically understate the true number of gay people in society.  The following comes from the Daily Beast

As the Pew Research Center notes, conventional surveys may underestimate the size of the LGBT population due to unreliable self-reporting. A team of researchers from Ohio State University and Boston University found that survey respondents were far more likely to report a non-heterosexual identity when assured of absolute anonymity than they were when interviewed using a standard public opinion method in which respondents can still be connected to their answers.

Meanwhile, the percentage of evangelical Christians in America continues to decline.  Just recently I published an entire article on this phenomenon entitled “America Became A Lot Less Christian During The Presidency Of Barack Obama“, and I encourage everyone that has not seen it yet to go back and read it.

In that article, you will see that an astounding 35 percent of all Millennials now have no religious affiliation whatsoever, and only 27 percent of them attend religious services on a weekly basis.

And Millennials are much less likely to call themselves “evangelical” than the rest of the population.  At this point, only 21 percent of all Millennials identify as evangelical Protestants.  For older Millennials the figure is 22 percent, and for younger Millennials the figure is just 19 percent.

This is where America is heading.  If current trends hold up, in the not too distant future less than a fifth of the country will be evangelical Christians.

Also, nearly 3 out of every 4 Millennials in America support gay marriage, and that is the highest percentage by far for any age group.

Of course societal trends can change.  And we better hope that they change, because if they don’t a lot of the things that I talk about in my latest book will start happening very quickly.

We are in a battle for the mind, and the average American spends about five hours a day watching television.  Virtually all of that “programming” is controlled by just six gigantic media corporations, and they are continuously pushing a worldview that promotes “progressive” values.

The same thing is true for our so-called “education system”.  The next generations of Americans are being systematically conditioned to think and feel certain ways, and most parents have no idea what really goes on behind those classroom doors.

So even if we can get our kids to sit in church for an hour each week, how could that possibly compete with the thousands upon thousands of hours of “conditioning” that they are constantly being exposed to the rest of the time?

Much of Europe is already considered to be “post-Christian”, and if something is not done the United States will suffer the same fate.

It won’t happen immediately, but if current trends persist it is just a matter of time before the gay population in this country is larger than the evangelical Christian population.

Political change does not equal spiritual change, and spiritual change is what America desperately needs.

Americans Would Rather Have A Gay President Than An Evangelical Christian President

White House South Lawn - Public Domain

Would you rather have a gay president or an evangelical Christian president? According to a brand new Wall Street Journal/NBC survey, 37 percent of Americans would have “reservations” or be “uncomfortable” with a gay president, but 44 percent of Americans would have “reservations” or be “uncomfortable” with an evangelical Christian president. This represents a massive cultural shift. Back in 2006, the same survey found that 53 percent of Americans would have “reservations” or be “uncomfortable” with a gay president. Without a doubt, the entire nation is moving to the left on social issues. Meanwhile, much of the country is becoming increasingly negative toward those that are considered to be “socially conservative”. One of the only classes of people to score even lower on the survey than evangelical Christians were leaders of the Tea Party movement. A whopping 61 percent of Americans said that they would have “reservations” or be “uncomfortable” with a president that had been a leader of the Tea Party. So is this a permanent shift? Has the United States fundamentally rejected social conservatives and their values?

When I first came across these new survey results I was rather stunned. I had known that America had been moving to the left for a long time, but I had no idea that the movement had been this dramatic. The following is an excerpt from a Huffington Post article about this new survey…

The latest WSJ/NBC poll listed a series of qualities in a potential presidential candidate and asked respondents whether they’d “be enthusiastic,” “be comfortable with,” “have some reservations about” or “be very uncomfortable with” a candidate with each of those qualities.

The results revealed that Americans are actually quite open to having a gay presidential candidate. Sixty-one percent said they would be either enthusiastic about or comfortable with a gay or lesbian candidate, while only 37 percent said they would have reservations or be uncomfortable.

By comparison, respondents were a little less comfortable with the prospect of a candidate who is an evangelical Christian. Fifty-two percent said they’d be enthusiastic about or comfortable with an evangelical Christian running for president, while 44 percent expressed some degree of hesitancy about the idea.

And of course this is just part of a larger shift to the left. In a previous article, I discussed the results of Gallup’s most recent “annual Values and Beliefs survey”. When you compare those results to the results from the same survey in 2001, you find that there has been an absolutely colossal shift in America’s values since the turn of the century. The following numbers represent the percentage of Americans that find various behaviors to be “morally acceptable”…

Sex between an unmarried man and woman

2001: 53%

2014: 66%

2001: 59%

2014: 69%

Having a baby outside of marriage

2001: 45%

2014: 58%

Gay or lesbian relations

2001: 40%

2014: 58%

Medical research using stem cells from human embryos

2001: 52%

2014: 65%

2001: 30%

2014: 33%

2001: 13%

2014: 19%

Cloning Humans

2001: 7%

2014: 13%

Is there any doubt left at this point that we are becoming a more “socially liberal” nation?

Meanwhile, animosity for those that hold “socially conservative” viewpoints continues to rise.

In previous articles, I have detailed how Bible-believing Christians are being purged out of the military and are even being labeled as “potential terrorists” in official U.S. government documents.

But it isn’t just the Obama administration that is turning on evangelical Christians. The truth is that the entire culture has become increasingly negative toward evangelical Christianity, and this is manifesting in thousands of different ways.

For example, just consider what one Christian student recently experienced in a humanities course. The following comes from an article by Kit Daniels

A humanities professor reportedly failed a Christian student for not denouncing her faith in support of Marxism, atheism and feminism.

Humanities Exam

The professor, Lance “L.J.” Russum at Polk State College in Winter Haven, Fla., allegedly gave the student four straight zeros on assignments because she refused to agree with his biased test questions which painted Christianity as false, violent and oppressive to women.

When confronted, the professor did not back down and neither did the dean of the college

“This course in no way is a challenge to anyone religious ‘faith’ because it never addresses religion from the standpoint of faith, only from philosophical/political/historical perspectives,” Rossum responded. “What you hold as a faith system is your personal belief about the gods and goddesses.”

“When you write from a faith position your writing is contrary to the BCI (Basic Course Information Catalog),” he continued. “The BCI is what I am obligated to grade you on. Your answers make it impossible for me to grade when you refuse to follow the course objectives.”

Lewis’ parents also contacted Dean Donald Painter, who reviewed the matter but said that he found the assignments to be “appropriate based on the course description and learning outcomes.”

So what is causing this enormous cultural shift that is taking place in our nation?

Personally, I am convinced that it has a lot to do with the power of the mainstream media. The average American spends about 10 hours a day using an electronic device of some sort, and approximately 90 percent of the news, information and entertainment that we get from those electronic devices is controlled by just six monolithic corporations.

The next time that you are watching a movie or a television show, pay attention to how different groups of people are being portrayed. You will notice that “socially liberal” groups are almost always painted in a positive light. On the flip side, evangelical Christians are almost always portrayed negatively.

Whatever you feed your mind consistently is what you will eventually become. And most Americans are feeding their minds with propaganda that is endlessly praising certain groups of people while constantly demonizing others groups of people.

As this continues, the environment for Bible-believing Christians in America is going to become increasingly hostile.

But that doesn’t mean that all is lost for those that believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Even in the midst of all the chaos and all the darkness that we are going to see in future years, I believe that the greatest move of God that the world has ever seen is coming. As I recently explained, it is going to be a truly global movement that looks very different from how we “play church” today, and it is going to absolutely shock the world.

So what do you think about all of this?

Has America permanently moved to the left on social issues?

And if so, what does that mean for the future of this nation?
