Fifty operatives working with CENTCOM, the US Military’s intelligence arm, have charged that their assessments of the fight against ISIS and Al Qaeda are being altered by senior officials in order to fit with the Obama administrations claims that the US is winning the war on terror.

The explosive charges are revealed in a report out of The Daily Beast, which details how scores of spies have complained that intelligence is being intentionally manipulated to make it seem that the terror groups are weaker than they really are.

The report details how back in July two senior analysts at CENTCOM wrote to the Defense Department inspector general noting that reports, which are used to brief senior government officials including the president, were inappropriately altered.

Around 50 intelligence analysts have backed up the claim, according to the report, charging that CENTCOM’s upper echelons are politicizing the intelligence reports.

Essentially, the spies suggest that in a display of doublethink, the intelligence is literally being re-written to downplay the threat of ISIS, as if that makes it a reality.

One defense official has described the situation as a “cancer within the senior level of the intelligence command,” while others have described the working environment at CENTCOM as “Stalinist”.
