The Open Supreme Court Seat Is A Final Test For Trump, Senate Republicans And America’s Conservatives

The sudden passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg shocked the entire country, and it has set up a battle for the ages in Washington.  Democrats are promising to fight with everything that they have got to keep that seat from being filled before the election, but in the end there isn’t that much they can do.  The Republicans control the White House and the U.S. Senate, and so they have the power to fill that seat if they wish to do so.  Unfortunately, there are already cracks in Republican solidarity.  Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins have both publicly stated that they will not support a confirmation vote before election day, and two more defections would push Republicans below the 50 votes that they need to confirm a nominee.  But for the purposes of this article, I will assume that there will be no more defections.

I believe that this open Supreme Court seat represents a critical test.  But it is not a test for the Democrats.  We already know what they believe and where they stand, and they have absolutely no intention of changing.  So there is no need for Democrats to be weighed on the scales of justice, because that case is already closed.

Instead, I believe that this is a test for President Trump, for the Republicans in the U.S. Senate and for America’s conservatives.

By now, conservatives should have complete control of the Supreme Court.  15 of the last 19 justices have been nominated by Republican presidents, and if Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat is filled by President Trump that will make it 16 out of the last 20.

Sadly, we do not have a conservative Supreme Court at this point.  In fact, the Supreme Court has been very liberal for more than 50 years.

How in the world could this possibly have happened?

Well, the truth is that Democrats and Republicans have a completely different approach to Supreme Court nominations.  When a Democratic president nominates someone to the Supreme Court, they make sure that they know exactly what they are getting and they never make any mistakes.

But Republican presidents have nominated “conservatives” that have turned out to be very liberal time after time.

Just because a Republican president nominates a judge, that does not mean that he or she is “conservative”.  We’ve got to quit believing the mainstream media when they put those labels on judges, because the mainstream media should not be trusted.

For example, just consider Neil Gorsuch.  The mainstream media told us that he was “very conservative” when Trump nominated him to the Supreme Court, but instead he has voted with the liberals repeatedly.

But we shouldn’t be surprised by the fact that he has turned out to be a liberal, because he was attending an extremely liberal church when he was nominated

And in a twist that may surprise religious conservatives who welcomed Gorsuch’s appointment, church leader Rev. Susan Springer, 58, has said she is pro-gay marriage and offers blessings to same sex couples.

The church, which trumpets its ‘inclusive’ ethos on its website, also operates a homeless outreach program that includes an LGBT center and a sexual health clinic in a pamphlet setting out the best places for those in need of help.

And Rev. Springer is so virulently anti-Trump that she attended “the anti-Trump Women’s March in Denver the day after the President’s inauguration”.

Unfortunately, the red flags were ignored and Gorsuch is now a member of the Supreme Court.

Next, let’s talk about Brett Kavanaugh.  When he was nominated, the mainstream media couldn’t stop talking about how “conservative” he was, and the left passionately opposed his nomination.

But at the time, I strongly pointed out that conservatives should be the ones opposing his nomination, and the passage of time has proven that I was right.  Kavanaugh has also repeatedly voted with the liberals on the Court, and he has proven that he is not a social conservative at all.

When he was nominated, the way that he was able to get Republican Senator Susan Collins to vote for his confirmation was by assuring her that Roe v. Wade was a settled precedent and by essentially promising her that he would not vote to overturn it if the decision was going to be a 5 to 4 decision.  You can watch Susan Collins discuss her meeting with Kavanaugh right here.

There is no universe in which such a promise would be okay, and Kavanaugh’s nomination should have been immediately withdrawn once this became known.

Instead, Kavanaugh was confirmed and now we are stuck with him.

So now President Trump has a third opportunity to nominate a member of the Supreme Court, and this is a critical test for him.

The only acceptable option is for him to nominate a judge that will publicly pledge to overturn Roe v. Wade, and none of the candidates currently being discussed has done this.

After Trump nominates a judge, the Republicans in the Senate will also face a test.

If the judge that has been nominated will publicly pledge to overturn Roe v. Wade, the Republicans in the Senate have a duty to confirm that nominee before Trump’s term ends.

But if that judge will not publicly pledge to overturn Roe v. Wade, the Republicans in the Senate have a duty to reject that nominee.

Lastly, this process will also be a test for conservatives all over America.

In the past, conservatives across the country have gotten behind “conservative” nominees even though there were all sorts of red flags and even though none of them would publicly pledge to overturn Roe v. Wade.

As a result, we have the mess on the Court that we have today.

Now the conservatives of this country face one final test.

If we overwhelmingly reject any candidate that will not publicly pledge to overturn Roe v. Wade, we will pass the test.

But if we just go along with whoever is nominated no matter what they believe like we have done before, then we will fail the test.

We have failed so many times before, and now we have one final chance.

If we get a third strike against us in less than four years, I fear that we may be all out of chances.

Already, I am seeing calls for President Trump to nominate a moderate judge because that will supposedly help his chances in November.

There is going to be so much pressure on Trump to make a choice for political reasons, and many Republicans in the Senate will also be feeling a tremendous amount of political pressure as well.

Let us hope that our leaders have the courage to make the right decisions, because this is a test that we simply cannot afford to fail.

A New Survey Has Found The Upcoming Election Is A “Significant Source Of Stress” For 56% Of U.S. Adults

This is definitely going to be an election season to remember. For most Democrats, four more years of Donald Trump in the White House is a scenario that is absolutely unimaginable, and they will be fighting like mad to keep that from happening. But of course Trump supporters are equally determined to keep him in power, and many of them are not even willing to consider the possibility that a Democrat could potentially win. If you thought that the last election was contentious, just wait until you see what happens this time around. In the end, close to half the country is going to be bitterly, bitterly disappointed, and they will be in no mood to be governed by whoever ultimately wins. Of course the mainstream media and many of our national leaders will be gleefully stirring the pot the entire time, but when things finally explode they won’t take any responsibility. We have never seen this much anger, frustration and hatred in our political process, and there is no way that this is going to end well.

To illustrate the points that I just made, I would like to share a couple of recent surveys with you.

The first comes from the American Psychological Association. According to their survey, the upcoming election is a “significant source of stress” for 56 percent of all U.S. adults

According to the annual “Stress in America” survey from the American Psychological Association, 56% of U.S. adults identified 2020 as a “significant” stressor.

That is an increase from the contentious 2016 match-up, when respondents were asked the same question just three months before the election, and 52% of adults reported that the presidential election was incredibly stressful.

A couple of decades ago, most of us wouldn’t even be thinking much about presidential politics at this point.

But these days covering politics has become big business for the major news networks, and that has especially been true since Trump entered the White House.

And considering how much negative coverage there is of Trump, it probably shouldn’t be surprising that the survey also found that Democrats are far more stressed about the upcoming election than Republicans are…

According to the poll, the topic of the upcoming election is proving to be more stressful for survey respondents who identified as Democrats, compared to those who identified as Republicans, by nearly 25%.

To many on the left, it will literally feel like the end of the world if Trump wins again, because they are constantly being prompted by the mainstream media to feel such negative emotions about Trump.

One other thing that the survey discovered is that over half of the respondents felt “that this is the lowest point in U.S. history they can remember”, and my guess is that it was mostly Democrats who responded that way.

But it isn’t just the politicians in Washington that we don’t like. A different survey found that Americans increasingly consider those that belong to a different political party to literally be evil

“For example, 55% of Republicans say Democrats are ‘more immoral’ when compared with other Americans; 47% of Democrats say the same about Republicans,” Pew reports. “Majorities in both parties say those in the opposing party do not share their nonpolitical values and goals.”

That echoes language from a paper published earlier this year that found over 40 percent of Americans say the political opposition is “downright evil.” Against such evil opponents, “violence would be justified” if the opposing party wins the 2020 presidential election, according to 18 percent of Democrats and 13 percent of Republicans.

Yikes!

Numbers like that should send a chill through you, because they have very ominous implications for our future.

The ironic thing is that our politicians in Washington are mostly moderates near the middle of the current political spectrum. In most cases, they are more alike than they are different, but it is true that the two parties really do seem to enjoy fighting with one another.

But in most cases they are not actually fighting over deep ideological issues. It is very rare for any of our politicians to take a truly principled stand, and most of them that attempt to do so usually end up folding rather quickly.

Yes, the fighting has gotten a lot more intense in recent years, but all this time the actual results that we have gotten out of Washington have stayed pretty much the same.

Unfortunately, most Americans don’t realize this, because they are so caught up in the strife, bitterness, discord and resentment that they see on camera. All of the drama can be quite entertaining at times, but it is not productive.

Those on the left are systematically being trained to hate those on the right, and those on the right are systematically being trained to hate those on the left.

But whatever happened to “loving your enemy” and “praying for those that persecute you”?

I am not suggesting that we should ever compromise on our most important values or that most of those “representing” us in Washington deserve to be there.

However, if we do not learn how to love those that disagree with us we are never going to make it.

For those of you on the right, can you honestly say that you love Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez?

And for those of you on the left, can you honestly say that you love Donald Trump, his family and his supporters?

The Democrats are constantly preaching against “hate groups”, but the ironic thing is that they have become one giant hate group.

I am reminded of a dream that I recently had. In this particular dream, I was seeing things from the perspective of a member of the Trump family…

In my dream I was a member of the Trump family. I do not know which member of the Trump family I was, but I clearly understood that I was related to President Trump somehow. Obviously I am not a member of the Trump family in real life, but for the purposes of this dream I was given that unique perspective. I do not know if I was a member of the nuclear family or a member of the extended family, but Trump was in my dream and he was among the members of the Trump family that was listening to my message. In my dream I also understood that I did not have as much favor with Trump as other members of the family, and so while it was true that he listened to my message, it was also true that he was not overly receptive to it.

Quite a bit happened in the dream, but the thing that stood out to me more than anything else was how hated we were. It really had an impact on me emotionally, because I was stunned by how much people hated Trump and his family. Here is more from the dream

Prior to receiving the warning, my dream had been mostly about interactions between Trump’s family and members of the city. I don’t remember the things that were said, but I don’t think that they were that important anyway. What I came away with was an extremely clear impression of how hated we were. I am sure that there must have been some people out there that loved us, but in the dream I did not experience that. Instead, I felt overwhelming rejection and hatred to such a degree that it really stunned me.

Do Democrats really believe that they are going to heal America by greatly hating Trump, his family and his supporters?

And do Republicans really believe that hating those on the left will turn our country in the right direction?

In the end, what we really need is a whole lot more love. Unfortunately, that is not the direction that both sides of the political spectrum are currently heading.

The Mueller Report Is About To Be Released, And It Could Unleash Hell All Across America

After two very long years, the Mueller report is finally going to be released, and it could potentially be the spark that unleashes chaos all over the country. Initially, some in the mainstream media had speculated that the Mueller report could be released this week, but now it is being reported that this probably will not happen. However, it is expected that the report will almost certainly be handed over at some point in March. Robert Mueller will submit a private copy of his report to Attorney General William Barr, and then Barr will make a determination about how much of it should be made public. On Friday, six committee chairs from the House of Representatives sent a stern letter to Barr informing him that they expect as much of the report to be released to the public as possible

Six Democratic House committee chairs urged Barr in a letter Friday to publicize Mueller’s report. The lawmakers also requested that the Justice Department provide parts of the report that are not made public to Congress, and asked that the department explain its reasoning for any redactions.

“We write to you to express, in the strongest possible terms, our expectation that the Department of Justice will release to the public the report Special Counsel Mueller submits to you — without delay and to the maximum extent permitted by law,” the committee chairs wrote in the letter. Besides Schiff, the letter was signed by House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), Foreign Affairs Chairman Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.), Financial Services Chairwoman Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), Oversight Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) and Ways and Means Chairman Richard Neal (D-Mass.).

Needless to say, if Barr attempted to keep all or most of the report private, the Democrats would do everything in their power to change that. In fact, Adam Schiff is already threatening to sue the Trump administration if that is what it takes…

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff said that his committee would subpoena special counsel Robert Mueller’s final report and even call him to testify before the committee if the report was not made public, and that he was “absolutely” prepared to sue the Trump administration, if necessary.

“We will obviously subpoena the report. We will bring Bob Mueller in to testify before Congress. We will take it to court if necessary,” Schiff, D-Calif. said Sunday.

In the end, most of the report will ultimately be made public one way or another. And once the report has been made public, it will be the story that everyone is talking about.

If there is anything in the report that implicates Trump at all, even if it is a very minor thing, Democrats will immediately begin buzzing about impeachment. Of course many congressional Democrats have already been openly calling for Trump to be impeached, and that includes Representative Ayanna Pressley

In a wild interview with Boston Public Radio, freshman Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) lambasted President Donald Trump and called for his immediate impeachment from office–while also ripping the president over the crisis at the U.S. border with Mexico and attacking federal law enforcement agencies.

Back in September, Pressley said she would “do whatever we can” to impeach Trump and remove him from office, the local public radio outlet noted, and now she feels the same way as she eagerly anticipates Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report. But, she added without knowing what’s in Mueller’s forthcoming report, Trump has “lost all moral authority” to lead the United States of America.

Most ordinary Americans on the left already believe that Trump is a crook that deserves to be impeached, and the release of this report will just add fuel to that fire.

But if Democrats actually make a move to impeach Trump, many of those on the right will regard it as a coup attempt by the deep state and their Democratic allies, and they will be extremely upset.

There will be great anger on both sides, and emotions will be brought to a fever pitch by breathless 24 hour coverage by the major news networks.

One insider that understands what is coming is Steve Bannon. On Sunday he told CBS News that he believes that 2019 “is going to be the most vitriolic year in American politics since before the Civil War”

Bannon cited the upcoming release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe, the investigation of Trump’s businesses from the Southern District of New York attorney’s office, and House Democrats’ plans for probes of the administration as the reason for the forthcoming chaos.

‘I think that 2019 is going to be the most vitriolic year in American politics since before the Civil War,’ Bannon told CBS News in an interview that aired Sunday. ‘And I include Vietnam in that. I think we’re in, I think we’re in for a very nasty 2019.’

And you know what?

He is right.

Bannon is warning that the Democrats “could weaponize the Mueller report”, and he believes that the next several months are “going to be a real meat grinder”

“I think the next 90 days to four months is going to be a real meat grinder … I mean, the pressure on the president is coming from many different angles,” said Bannon – adding “I think you’ve already seen it from what the Democrats, some of these reports they’ve been dropping here without telling anybody. I think that now they control the House they can weaponize this, they could weaponize the Mueller report.”

In the end, the merits of the case that Mueller has put together are going to matter very little. The Democrats are going to want Trump out, and the Republicans are going to want him to stay, and there is going to be great chaos as a very heated national argument plays out in front of the rest of the world.

Of course all of this could be avoided if the Mueller report completely exonerates Trump, but that is very unlikely to happen. Robert Mueller spent an extraordinary amount of time, energy and taxpayer money on this investigation over the past two years, and he is going to want something to show for his efforts. In some way, shape or form, Trump will be made to appear guilty of something, and that will be all it takes. The fuse will have been lit, and shortly thereafter we could see great chaos in Washington as both sides angrily contend for what they want to see happen.

I wish that it wasn’t true, but I believe that we are about to witness a very ugly chapter in American history.

And no matter what happens, I don’t know if our political system will ever fully recover from the amount of damage that is about to be done to it.

Democrats Win Again? The Spending Bill Congress Just Passed Contains Restrictions That Make It Just About Impossible For Trump To Build His Wall

On Wednesday, the House and the Senate both passed a massive 1,159 page spending bill that they were given less than 24 hours to read. There was a concerted effort by the leadership of both parties to rush this bill through before the American people could be mobilized to oppose it. We are being told that this spending package represents a compromise, but as you will see below, the wording of the bill is so restrictive that it is going to make it just about impossible for President Trump to get anything built on the border. At this point I think that Trump is counting on declaring a national emergency in order to get his wall built, but the moment he does that the Democrats plan to tie him up in court indefinitely.

Before we get to the details of this bill, let’s talk about how ridiculous this legislative process has been. During her first term as speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi often rushed through enormous pieces of legislation without giving anyone time to actually read what was in them, and now she is doing it again.

This 1,159 page spending bill had an average of approximately 200 words per page, and as Breitbart has pointed out, a “fast reader” could get through such a document in about 40 hours…

The document has roughly 200 words per page — ensuring that a fast reader would need 40 hours just to reach to the end of the huge document, providing they did not stop to take notes, compare the text to existing laws, eat, or sleep.

But members of Congress were not given 40 hours. Instead, they had the bill for about 18 hours before they were expected to vote on it.

Needless to say, nobody that voted on this bill read the entire thing.

That should have been reason enough to vote no on this bill, and yet this bill overwhelmingly passed in both chambers.

You can find a list of all the members of the House of Representatives that voted yes on this bill right here. When the next election comes along, it is your job to hold them accountable.

We were told that this bill would include 1.375 billion dollars for Trump’s wall, but that is not true.

In the bill, it specifically says that the 1.375 billion dollars is for “the construction of primary pedestrian fencing”.

So there will be no concrete wall. Instead, it will just be the kind of pedestrian fencing that both Bush and Obama built.

In addition, the bill specifically says that this fencing can only be put up “in the Rio Grande Valley Sector”.

So why is construction of the fencing limited to that one area in Texas?

Well, the bill also contains a provision that gives Democratic lawmakers in those Texas border towns the power to block construction of the fencing

One poison pill would allow Democratic legislators in Texas border towns to block the construction of the 55 miles of border walls approved in the legislation.

A second poison pill would allow illegal migrants in the United State to get a legal shield against deportation by declaring their willingness to “sponsor” a teenager or child trafficked from Central America. Many the so-called “Unaccompanied Alien Children” who are being smuggled up to the United States by the cartels are the children or relatives of illegals who have already sneaked into the U.S.

These are the five border towns that Trump would need to get approval from, and they are all run by Democrats…

-Roma
-Rio Grande City
-Escobares
-La Grulla
-Salineno

In addition, the bill specifically says that no construction can take place “while consultations are continuing” with local officials.

On top of everything else, the bill also requires a public comment period of at least 60 days before construction can begin…

It is not just local elected officials who have to approve of border wall construction, though. The spending bill mandates DHS open a public comment period by July, giving the public at least 60 days to voice opinions about the construction of a barrier in their county.

In essence, the wording of this bill all but ensures that nothing is going to get built on the border before the 2020 presidential election.

The Democrats have done a masterful job of achieving their goals once again, and Republican leadership in Congress got played like a fiddle.

Our government is incredibly broken, and we desperately need to clean house.

The bill also puts all sorts of new restrictions on ICE. For example, it mandates a reduction in the number of ICE detention beds from 49,060 to 40,520 by the end of the fiscal year, and this is going to force ICE to “catch and release” a whole lot more illegal immigrants.

I could go on and on, but hopefully you get the point. This bill is a complete and utter nightmare, and President Trump should veto it. But the White House has already announced that Trump will sign the bill

Moments after McConnell’s remarks, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed in a statement that the president will sign the funding bill and take executive action to build the wall. “President Trump will sign the government funding bill, and as he has stated before, he will also take other executive action – including a national emergency – to ensure we stop the national security and humanitarian crisis at the border. The President is once again delivering on his promise to build the wall, protect the border, and secure our great country,” Sanders said.

Year after year, there are showdowns over spending in Congress.

And year after year, the Democrats always get what they want in the end.

The Republicans are playing checkers while the Democrats are playing chess, and meanwhile our entire country is going down the tubes.

If President Trump Tries To Declare A National Emergency To Build The Wall, The Democrats Plan To Use Lawsuits To Keep It From Ever Being Built

President Trump has repeatedly floated the idea of declaring a national emergency in order to pave the way for the wall to be built, and it is now being reported that the White House has actually drawn up a draft proclamation to be used if Trump decides to go in that direction. But there is a very strong reason why he hasn’t pulled the trigger on such a move yet. If Trump tries to make an end run around Congress in this manner, the Democrats plan to immediately take him to court. That would mean construction of the wall would be tied up in the court system for years, and if Trump lost in 2020 it would never happen at all.

So if Trump is really committed to the wall, he needs to keep going with this shutdown until the Democrats finally give in.

Using a national emergency to build the wall sounds like a simple solution to a lot of people, but the truth is that it would be a legal nightmare.

The easy part would be actually declaring the national emergency. Presidents have made 58 national emergency declarations since 1979, and 31 of them are still in effect right now.

And if a national emergency was declared, the Trump administration has identified 7 billion dollars in federal funds that could potentially be used for wall construction

According to options being considered, the administration could pull: $681 million from Treasury forfeiture funds, $3.6 billion in military construction, $3 billion in Pentagon civil works funds, and $200 million in Department of Homeland Security funds, the official said.

But of course the Democrats are not just going to stand by and allow President Trump to do that. As Politifact has noted, it is almost certain that there would be an immediate legal challenge…

If Trump declared a national emergency, expert said he might rely on 10 U.S. Code Section 2808 and 33 U.S. Code Section 2293. In very broad terms, they concern the use of the armed forces to undertake military construction projects, and the termination or deferment of Army civil works project and using those resources to undertake other construction “essential to the national defense.”

Trump would likely face a legal challenge if he invoked either of those two provisions, experts said. Potential arguments that would rise are whether the border wall is necessary to support the armed forces already deployed at the border, whether the construction has the appropriate approval, and whether the reallocation of funds is justified. Also a matter of debate is who would have legal standing to challenge the president’s declaration.

In particular, the Democrats would likely invoke the Antideficiency Act. It is unclear whether or not they would ultimately be successful, but this portion of federal law is certainly vague enough to keep the two sides tied up in the federal court system for a very long time. Ryan Alexander, the president of Taxpayers for Common Sense, recently gave us some insight into what the legal strategy for the Democrats could potentially look like

This latest idea of actually paying for wall construction out of the DoD Appropriations bill has a major stumbling block: the Antideficiency Act. Once the domain of only the most serious appropriations law nerds, the Trump era has pushed this statute out of the shadows of “Principles of Federal Appropriations Law” and made it an issue that must be discussed.

Simply stated, this is the law that says money appropriated by Congress cannot be spent in advance or in excess of a congressional appropriation. Also, the act prohibits “…involving the government in any obligation to pay money before funds have been appropriated for that purpose…” (emphasis added.) In effect this means funds may only be used to pay for the item or action for which the money was specifically appropriated.

If President Trump does not want the construction of the wall to be tied up in court indefinitely, then he needs congressional approval, and that won’t be easy.

Both sides have dug their heels in, and there does not appear to be any room for a compromise. The Democrats are pledging that they will never give Trump a single penny for a border wall, and if they break that promise they will have to deal with an overwhelming political backlash.

Meanwhile, the crisis on the border continues to escalate. For example, one rancher that lives on the border recently caught a smuggler in the act of trying to steal his truck

Grossman lives in the same area, and illegal crossers have entered his home a number of times. He recently caught a smuggler trying to steal his truck.

“I brought him back to the house,” Grossman recounted. “And then my wife called the sheriff, and the sheriff and border patrol come up and got him and then we went back to my pickup and there was a bale of marijuana in the back of my pickup and he had stolen a lot of stuff from the house.”

And the sheriff of Cochise County is desperate for the federal government to “fix this problem” that he has to deal with on a daily basis…

Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels oversees a border county covering more land than Connecticut. He says when the government fails to take a strong stand on immigration, it only makes things worse. “Those that want to come into this country and harm us – terrorists – have the infrastructure to get through here in Cochise County,” he explains. “Anytime this administration talks about amnesty or anything that has to do with the border we have an influx of people coming across. We sit back all the time and just wonder, why they won’t do something to fix this problem.'”

We desperately need some common sense solutions in Washington, but unfortunately most members of Congress seem to be greatly lacking in common sense these days.

So for now the government shutdown will continue, and it is not likely to end any time soon.

42-Year-Old Married Republican City Council Member Had An Affair With A 16-Year-Old Girl After Having Her Sign A Long-Term “Sex Contract”

(The Daily Mail) A married Republican city council member from Connecticut has been charged after he allegedly threatened and entered into a years-long sex contract with a 16-year-old girl he met online.

Jon Landry, 42, was arrested on Friday by Newington Police following a lengthy investigation into the six year affair he was having with the victim.

Investigators say the politician, who has been married for over 17 years and has two daughters, told the victim his name was Jason Davis when they first met online using AOL Instant Messenger back in 2008 when she was just 12.

A Potential Government Shutdown Is Literally Just Hours Away, But Congressional Leaders Insist That Everything Will Be Just Fine

Either the Republicans are going to give Democrats virtually everything that they want, or the federal government will shut down at the end of the day on Friday. We have been through this process time after time, and in every single instance the Republicans have always folded like a 20 dollar suit. Unfortunately, it looks like the Democrats are going to win big this time around too. The spending agreement is essentially an updated Obama budget that fully funds Planned Parenthood, that contains no money for a border wall, and that doesn’t reflect any of President Trump’s other important priorities either. On Thursday, the House is expected to pass this horrible bill, and the Senate is expected to take up the matter on Friday. According to Bloomberg, right now this plan would keep the government open through December 22nd…

The House Rules Committee approved a rule setting the bill up for a floor vote Thursday, after which the Senate will have until the end of the day Friday to avoid a partial government shutdown. A formal check of how members would vote on the Dec. 22 deadline came back showing widespread support, said Representative Dennis Ross, a member of the vote-whipping team.

So even if this plan gets through both the House and the Senate, we will be facing another government shutdown deadline in just a few weeks.

And every time one of these deadlines approaches, the Democrats use it as leverage to get what they want. In addition to getting a spending agreement that is extremely lopsided in their favor, many Democrats want to use this current deadline to pass the DREAM Act before the end of 2017. In fact, Kirsten Gillibrand, Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders, Dick Durbin, Elizabeth Warren and Corey Booker have all said that they will not vote in favor of any spending agreement unless it includes the DREAM Act.

Emboldened by their past successes, Democrats are asking for more than ever this time around. But if we are just going to hand the Democrats whatever they want every time, what is the point of even having elections? In 2016 we gave the Republicans control of the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives, and yet the Democrats just keep winning over and over again. This is deeply infuriating, and grassroots conservatives all over the country are sick and tired of Republicans acting like spineless jellyfish.

Fortunately, we do have a man with a spine in the White House, and it sounds like he has absolutely no intentions of giving in on the DREAM Act. The following comes from NBC News

“Democrats are really looking at something very dangerous for our country. They are looking at shutting down, they want to have illegal immigrants, in many cases people that we don’t want in our country,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “We don’t want to have that, we want to have a great, beautiful, crime-free country.”

If the Democrats stand firm on their demands, there is a very real possibility that we could have a government shutdown, and federal agencies are already preparing for one. When the government shuts down, it only affects about 13 percent of the federal government, and we don’t actually need most of that 13 percent anyway.

So even though the mainstream media would be totally freaking out, it definitely would not be the end of the world.

If you don’t remember the last government shutdown, the following is a pretty good summary of what would happen that was published by Newsweek

If the shutdown does occur this weekend, the effects will be felt immediately. All nonessential employees of the federal government will stay home until further notice, and some will stop receiving paychecks. Refunds from the IRS could be delayed, as could the State Department’s passport service. Most air-traffic controllers and Transportation Security Administration security will continue to go to work, but there won’t be as many as them so air-travel will be slower. Members of Congress will have limited staff and won’t be as responsive (well, as responsive as they normally are) to constituents. And after 10 days without a spending bill, federal courts will close.

Obviously it would be a good thing to avoid a government shutdown, but it is exceedingly foolish to give the Democrats whatever they want just to keep things functioning normally.

In case you are wondering, I would definitely vote “no” on the bill that is currently going through the House of Representatives. I will not vote in favor of a spending bill that explodes the size of the national debt, that funds Planned Parenthood and that contains no money for a border wall. I am never going to compromise on my most important principles, and any Republican that caves in and gives the Democrats whatever they want just to avoid a government shutdown should be ashamed of themselves.

Sadly, the Democrats have done a very good job of selling their story to the American people, and at this point most Americans are overwhelmingly in favor of a compromise…

Sixty-three percent say members of Congress should avoid a shutdown at all costs. Only 18 percent of voters surveyed say members should allow a temporary government shutdown if it helps them achieve their policy goals. The remaining 19 percent of voters are undecided.

Of course “compromise” means giving in to the Democrats on virtually every single point. There are many things that the Democrats will never, ever compromise on, and that is why they keep on winning over and over again.

Most Republicans have been compromising for so long that most of them don’t even stand for anything any longer.

It is time to kick out the corrupt professional politicians and replace them with a new generation of leaders that are willing to stand up for us. We will have a chance to do that in 2018, and we must not squander this opportunity.

No More Fake Conservatives

Do you want to know why President Trump can’t seem to get much done in Congress?  It is because many of the “Republicans” in Congress are actually fake conservatives.  For decades, conservative voters have allowed these RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) to use labels such as “Republican”, “conservative” and “Pro-Life” to get votes, but then once they get into office they govern like Democrats and we never seem to hold them accountable.  So even though we have given the Republicans control of the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives, the government continues to function pretty much as it did when the Democrats were running things.

I was ten years old when Ronald Reagan won the 1980 election, and ever since that time I have regarded myself as a conservative.  But for a long time I could never understand why things never really seemed to change very much no matter which party had power.

Unfortunately, the truth is that “Republican” and “conservative” are not synonymous.  And a lot of politicians that use the word “conservative” while they are campaigning are actually quite liberal.  These con artists have fooled us over and over again, and it is time for that to stop.

Just look at what has happened to the national debt since we gave the Republicans control of the House of Representatives during the 2010 elections.  When the new session of Congress opened in January 2011, the U.S. national debt had just passed the 14 trillion dollar mark, and now we stand poised to blow past the 20 trillion dollar mark.

We sent Republicans to Washington to control government spending, and not a single dollar can be spent without the approval of the House, but somehow close to six trillion dollars has been added to the national debt since January 2011.

Are we supposed to believe that is “conservative”?

The solution is actually very simple.  The ridiculous spending demands of the Democrats need to be met with a resounding “NO” by Republicans in the Senate and the House each and every time.

During the Obama years, we added more than a trillion dollars a year to the national debt, and what we are doing to our children and our grandchildren is highly immoral.

Republicans also need to learn how to say “NO” when it comes to Planned Parenthood.

A politician cannot be “Pro-Life” and vote to give Planned Parenthood hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars year after year.  For a long time a lot of fake “Pro-Life” politicians have gotten away with doing this, but we aren’t going to put up with it any longer.

From now on, many of us in the Pro-Life community are going to require that any candidate asking for our support must make a pledge never to vote for any bill that gives even one penny of funding to Planned Parenthood.

If every Republican in the House took this pledge, Planned Parenthood would be defunded automatically.  The Republicans are expected to retain control of the House in 2018, and if that happens House Republicans would be able to block every single bill that attempts to allocate any money to Planned Parenthood.

This is a moral issue that goes way beyond politics.  The blood of 60 million dead children is crying out for justice, and if we do not stop killing babies on an industrial scale there is no hope and no future for our nation.

So let me be very clear.

I will not support any Republican that will not promise to vote against funding for Planned Parenthood every single time.

Not only that, I will do whatever I can to make sure that any such politician is defeated by an opponent that is willing to make such a pledge.

And I greatly applaud President Trump for proposing a budget that would strip every single penny of federal funding from Planned Parenthood…

President Donald Trump’s budget proposal together with the American Health Care Act, which Trump’s proposal embraces, would deny all federal funding to Planned Parenthood through both discretionary Title X grants and Medicaid.

“The budget also follows through on a campaign promise and prohibits any funding in the Labor-HHS appropriations bill for certain entities that provide abortions, including Planned Parenthood,” says a fact sheet published by the Office of Management and Budget. “This prohibition applies to all funds in the bill, including Medicaid.”

And it is about time that Republicans began to rediscover the importance of limited government.  During his first inaugural address, President Reagan famously said that “government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem”.

In an article earlier today, I noted that President Trump is proposing the elimination of 66 federal programs.

That is a good start.

Our founders intended for the individual state governments to have much more power than the federal government, but instead things have been completely flipped around.  At this point, it is almost as if the 10th Amendment doesn’t even exist.

We need to start setting things in order, but for that to be possible we need to make a big move in 2018.

Unfortunately, President Trump is going to have a hard time accomplishing much of anything until we get him a lot more friends in Congress.  Even though the Republicans control the Senate, there doesn’t seem to be much hope of cobbling together enough votes to repeal and replace Obamacare any time soon.  And there are Republican members of both the House and the Senate that are determined to block Trump on a border wall, on trade, on tax reform and on desperately needed regulatory reform.

I have heard from so many people out there that want Donald Trump’s presidency to be successful.  In order for that to happen, we need to send a very large wave of true conservatives to Washington in 2018.

It may seem quite early to start thinking about the 2018 elections, but the truth is that if true conservatives are going to win those races we need to start laying the groundwork now.

If you are a true conservative, and if you are willing to always vote against funding for Planned Parenthood, I would encourage you to think about running for office.  We are going to need good candidates on the federal, state and local levels.

If good men and women sit back and do nothing, the forces that are eating away at our republic like cancer are going to win by default.

If we are going to try to turn America around, now is the time.

Getting President Trump elected was the first step, and now we need to do our part.

Congressional Republicans Are Failing To Advance Trump’s Agenda

On February 8, 2017, Matt Drudge tweeted, “No Obamacare repeal, tax cuts!” and “Republican party should be sued for fraud. NO discussion of tax cuts now.” Drudge was spot on.

This week, Sen. Rand Paul (my former boss, it should be pointed out) stormed out of a meeting with Speaker of the House Paul Ryan when he heard talk of keeping Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion intact and creating tax credits. Paul worried these tax credits would be a Republican-created entitlement program.

DRUDGE: ‘Republican Party should be sued for fraud’

Internet news mogul Matt Drudge laced into GOP leadership on Wednesday morning, saying the Republican Party should “be sued for fraud” for not delivering on campaign promises soon enough.

“No Obamacare repeal, tax cuts! But Republicans vote to shut Warren?” Drudge tweeted, linking a New York Times article about Republicans voting to silence Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

“Only know how to be opposition not lead!” Drudge added. “DANGER.”

Now That The Election Is Over, Will Republicans And Democrats Learn How To Love One Another?

arguing-public-domain

The 2016 election will be remembered as perhaps the most contentious election in modern American history, and things often got extremely angry and bitter on a personal level.  If you spend much time on Facebook or Twitter you know exactly what I am talking about.  The vitriol on social media has been off the charts, and there are some people that are actually unfriending anyone that supported the candidate that they were against.  This election has also torn apart families, friends and even entire churches.  Relationships that took decades to build in some cases are now permanently shattered because of fighting over Trump and Clinton.

Personally, I couldn’t imagine choosing never to talk to a family member or a close friend ever again because of a political disagreement.  Trump and Clinton are only temporary, but your family will always be your family.  Sadly, we live in a nation where strife, discord, bitterness and resentment are all running rampant, and unforgiveness has become a national pastime.

As a nation, we are extremely divided.  In fact, at this moment we are more divided than we have ever been in my entire lifetime.  A house divided against itself will surely fall, and if we don’t learn how to love one another I don’t see any reason to be optimistic about the future of this country.

If you are a Republican, can you honestly say that you love Democrats?

If you are a Democrat, can you honestly say that you love Trump supporters?

If this nation is ever going to heal, we have got to learn how to forgive, and we have got to learn how to love others that see things differently than we do.

I know what many of you are thinking at this point.  Many of you are wondering if I have gone soft, and many of you are wondering how we are supposed to forgive people that believe some of the most horrible things imaginable.

I didn’t say that it would be easy.

And it is certainly not necessary to agree with someone or even acknowledge that their viewpoints are legitimate in order to love, forgive and value that person.

Let’s take abortion as an example.  Most Democrats and many Republicans believe that we should continue to murder babies on an industrial scale in our abortion mills all over the country.  In fact, many of them want to make it even easier and want to shower organizations such as Planned Parenthood with even more government money.

This is evil on a level that is difficult to put into words, and what we are doing to those precious little children is on par with what the Nazis did to Jewish people and other minorities in their concentration camps during World War II.  And if we do not stop slaughtering babies, the judgment of God is going to absolutely devastate this nation.

According to Gallup, 79 percent of all Americans believe that abortion should be legal under at least some circumstances, and so unfortunately that is not likely to happen any time soon.

But just because someone believes in killing babies does not mean that we should hate that person.

On the contrary, every single individual is of immense value.  Whenever you are tempted to hate someone, just remember that Jesus valued that person so much that He was willing to go to the cross to pay for that person’s sins.  No matter what someone looks like, no matter where someone is from, and no matter how much money they have, each and every person is greatly loved in the Father’s eyes, and we are commanded to love them too.

We are to love all people at all times and in all ways.  Christian maturity is far more about how much you love than it is about how much you know.  Unfortunately, most people don’t seem to understand this simple truth.

These days a lot of people are running around touting how self-righteous they are, but most of those same people seem to be quite lacking in real love.

If you really want to be someone that “keeps the commandments”, you should start by getting your heart right.  In Matthew 22, Jesus told us which commandments are the most important of all.  The following is what Matthew 22:36-40 says in the Modern English Version

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?”

37 Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

We should all constantly endeavor to become people of great love.

Once again, that does not mean that you have to accept or approve of what others are saying or doing.  In fact, often the loving thing is to point out that someone you love is being destructive to themselves or others.

And as a nation, we are being self-destructive on a scale that is almost unimaginable.  We are literally committing national suicide, and until we start radically changing our behavior it isn’t going to matter much who is in the White House.

If you want to get your heart right on a personal level, a good place to start is by forgiving those that have hurt you or offended you.  And that would include our politicians.  I am certainly not saying that you should vote for anyone that stands for positions that are extremely offensive, but we can definitely forgive them and pray for them.

In addition, if you have had relationships that have been broken during this election season, perhaps now is a good time to reach out in a spirit of love and forgiveness.

Life is too short to go around holding grudges, and those that choose to forgive often find that they are the ones that are truly being set free.

11 Very Depressing Economic Realities That Donald Trump Will Inherit From Barack Obama

donald-trump-and-barack-obama-talking-in-the-oval-office-public-domain

It would be a grave mistake to understate the amount of damage that has been done to the U.S. economy over the past eight years. In this article, I am going to share some economic numbers with you that are extremely sobering. Anyone that takes a cold, hard, honest look at the numbers should be able to see that our economy is in terrible shape. Unfortunately, the way that we see things is often clouded by our political views. Up until the election, Democrats were far more likely then Republicans to believe that the economy was improving, but now that is in the process of completely reversing. According to Gallup, only 16 percent of Republicans believed that the economy was getting better before the election, but that number has suddenly jumped to 49 percent after Trump’s election victory. And the percentage of Democrats that believe that the economy is getting better fell from 61 percent to 46 percent after the election. Here are some additional details from Gallup

After Trump won last week’s election, Republicans and Republican-leaning independents now have a much more optimistic view of the U.S. economy’s outlook than they did before the election. Just 16% of Republicans said the economy was getting better in the week before the election, while 81% said it was getting worse. Since the election, 49% say it is getting better and 44% worse.

Conversely, Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents’ confidence in the economy plummeted after the election. Before the election, 61% of Democrats said the economy was getting better and 35% worse. Now, Democrats are evenly divided, with 46% saying it is getting better and 47% saying it is getting worse.

The truth, of course, is that the result of the election did not somehow magically alter the outlook for the U.S. economy.

We still have a giant mess on our hands, and the following are 11 very depressing economic realities that Donald Trump will inherit from Barack Obama…

#1 Nearly 7 out of every 10 Americans have less than $1,000 in savings. That means that about two-thirds of the country is essentially living paycheck to paycheck at this moment.

#2 Reuters is reporting that U.S. mall investors are poised to lose “billions” of dollars as the “retail apocalypse” in this nation deepens.

#3 Credit card delinquencies have hit the highest level that we have seen since 2012.

#4 Approximately 35 percent of all Americans have a debt that is at least 180 days past due.

#5 The rate of homeownership has fallen for eight years in a row and is now hovering near a 50 year low.

#6 The total number of government employees now outnumbers the total number of manufacturing employees in this country by almost 10 million.

#7 The number of homeless people in New York City (where Donald Trump is from) has hit a brand new record high.

#8 About 20 percent of all young adults are currently living with their parents.

#9 Total household debt in the United States has now reached a grand total of 12.3 trillion dollars.

#10 The total amount of corporate debt in the U.S. has nearly doubled since the end of 2007.

#11 When Barack Obama entered the White House, the U.S. government was 10.6 trillion dollars in debt. Today, the U.S. national debt is currently sitting at a staggering total of $19,842,173,949,869.58.

Despite nearly doubling the national debt during his eight years in the White House, Barack Obama is going to be the only president in United States history to never have a single year when U.S. GDP grew by at least three percent.

So will Donald Trump waltz in and suddenly turn everything around?

Just like when George W. Bush was elected, there is a lot of optimism about the future right now among Republicans.

And in 2017, Republicans are going to have control of the Senate and the House in addition to being in control of the White House.

But does that mean that they will actually get anything done?

For a moment, let’s review what didn’t happen the last time the Republicans were in this position. The following is an extended excerpt from an article by author Devvy Kidd

—–

The Republicans had control of both houses of Congress part of the time during Bush, Jr.’s two terms. Did they lock down our borders? NO.

Did they pass legislation to stop ALL funding for illegals which would self-deport millions of liars, cheats and thieves? NO. (READ, please: How to Self-Deport Millions of Illegals)

Did they stop trillions in unconstitutional spending? NO.

Did they get rid of any of Clinton’s unconstitutional Executive Orders? One or two but otherwise let Comrade Bill Clinton crap in our faces.

Did they get rid of one unconstitutional cabinet like HHS, Department of Education and EPA? NO.

Did they stop the unconstitutional foreign aid? NO.

Did they stop unconstitutional spending for Planned Parenthood? NO. Congress just continues to use borrowed money to spend more debt.

Did they stop unconstitutional spending for the gigantic hoax called global warming or climate change? NO. Trump: The Left Just Lost The War On Climate Change

Did Bush, Jr., get us out of all the destructive trade treaties killing American jobs? NO.

Did they crack down on visas bringing in tens of thousands of foreign workers when American workers who want to work are left in the unemployment line? NO.

Did they stop more and more federal regulations strangling America’s businesses? NO.

Did they impeach one single activist judge destroying our freedom and liberty? NO.

A Republican controlled Congress with a Republican in the White House and they did virtually NOTHING to restore America to a constitutional republic and constitutional spending.

—–

So will things be any different under a Trump administration?

We shall see.

There will be tremendous pressure to maintain the status quo in many instances, because the process of fixing things would undoubtedly make conditions worse in the short-term.

A great example of this is the national debt. As I discussed yesterday, the only reason why we are able to enjoy such a massively inflated standard of living in this country is because we have been able to borrow trillions upon trillions of dollars from the rest of the world at ultra-low interest rates.

If the federal government started spending only the money that it brought in through taxes, our ridiculous debt-fueled standard of living would begin collapsing immediately.

We consume far more wealth than we produce, and the only way that we are able to do this is by borrowing insane amounts of money.

Either Donald Trump will continue to borrow money recklessly, or we will go into a major league economic downturn.

It really is that simple.

But when our politicians borrow money, they are literally destroying the future of this country. So the choice is pain in the short-term or greater pain in the long-term.

There is a way out, and that would involve shutting down the Federal Reserve and going to a completely debt-free form of money, but that is a topic for another article.

And unfortunately that is not something that is even on Donald Trump’s radar at this point.

No matter who won the election, the next president was going to be faced with some very harsh economic realities.

There are many out there that have faith that Donald Trump can pull off an unprecedented economic miracle, but there are others that are deeply skeptical.

Let us hope for the best, but let us also keep preparing for the worst.

79 Members Of Congress Have Been In Office For At Least 20 Years

US Capitol Building - Public Domain

No wonder Washington never changes – 79 members of Congress have been there since Bill Clinton’s first term in the White House. This list includes names such as Reid, Feinstein, McConnell, McCain, Pelosi, Boehner, Rangel and Boxer. In this article, I am going to share with you a complete list of the members of Congress that have been “serving” us for at least 20 years. They believe that they are “serving” us well, but without a doubt most Americans very much wish that true “change” would come to Washington. In fact, right now Congress has a 15 percent approval rating with the American people, and that approval rating has been consistently below 20 percent since mid-2011. So of course we took advantage of the 2014 mid-term election to dump as many of those Congress critters out of office as we possibly could, right? Wrong. Sadly, incumbents were re-elected at a 95 percent rate in 2014. This just shows how broken and how corrupt our system has become. The American people absolutely hate the job that Congress is doing, and yet the same clowns just keep getting sent back to Washington again and again.

Our founders never intended for service in Congress to become a career, but that is precisely what it has become for many of our “public servants”. As of this moment, there are 79 members of Congress that have been in office for at least 20 years, and there are 16 members of Congress that have been in office for at least 30 years.

No wonder so many Americans are advocating term limits these days. When there are dozens of members of Congress that know that they are going to be sent back to Washington over and over again no matter how the American people feel about things, that can cause them to become extremely callous toward the will of the people. Instead, often these politicians become increasingly responsive to the needs of their big donors, because it takes big money to win campaign after campaign. I am sure that if George Washington, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were running around today, they would be absolutely disgusted by how our system has evolved.

As you looked over those lists, you probably noticed that they contain many of the members of Congress that Americans complain about the most.

Unfortunately, because the vast majority of these individuals come from states or congressional districts that are basically a lock to vote a certain way, there is very little hope of ever removing them. That means that most of these Congress critters are going to get to keep coming back for as long as they want.

No matter which political party you prefer, this should greatly disturb you.

Our founders certainly never intended for a permanent class of elitists to rule over us.

The disconnect between members of Congress and average Americans has never been greater than it is right now, and I think that is a very troubling sign for the future of this nation.

So is there a solution to this problem?

“If you had asked me a few years back, I would’ve said it was less likely,” said Bush, who himself is running for political office for the first time as Texas land commissioner.

“The family will be behind him 100% if he decides to do it.”
