House Republicans File Obamacare Lawsuit

John Boehner

House Speaker John Boehner said Friday he has sued the Obama Administration in federal court over its decisions to make changes to the President’s health care law, which congressional Republicans argue were unconstitutional.

The move was expected for months — the GOP-controlled House of Representatives voted to approve the lawsuit in July. But Boehner had trouble retaining a law firm that would take the case because of the political furor over the controversial health care law.

“Time after time, the President has chosen to ignore the will of the American people and re-write federal law on his own without a vote of Congress. That’s not the way our system of government was designed to work,” Boehner said in statement on Friday.

  1. Suing implies a civil case rather than a criminal case.
I can see why they might have trouble getting a lawyer willing to take the case.
I think we have a case all right.
The question I have is it a civil case or a criminal case?
Changing the law to suit one’s self? I guess at least he is trying to get something moving here.
I think I would be a lot more comfortable with it if the entire law was brought into question.
For one thing it was lied about to the U.S. Congress.
I think the law should have been sent back to the Congress at the point where the court ruled it a tax.
It was never voted on as a tax. It was voted on and it was clearly publicly stated that it was not a tax by the people proposing it.
I think the Congress needs to get its act together.
For one thing the judge did not send it back to the Congress for a re-vote with the understanding that it might be a tax.
I think someday in the far future, a trail of money will lead right back to the Health Insurance Industry paying some people off to get the law into effect. But that is just a guess on my part.
