8-limbed ‘God Baby’ draws crowds in India

A baby boy born with four arms and four legs has been nicknamed “God Boy” and drawn thousands of excited people to the city of Baruipur in eastern India. The boy’s family is overjoyed because the birth defect makes him resemble a Hindu god, according to the Daily Mail. “The nurses said he was badly deformed, but I could see this was a sign from God,” a relative tells local media.

Ebola in India: Over 1,000 Indians being tracked for Ebola

A total of 1,011 Indians, who have returned from Ebola-affected areas, are being tracked for the virus, the heath ministry Sunday said. Most of those being tracked are from the states of Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, West Bengal and Delhi, an official release said here. During the past 24 hours, 201 passengers from the affected countries have arrived at the airports of Mumbai (88), Delhi (58), Chennai (24), Bangalore (15), Kochi (11), Thiruvananthapuram (4) and Kolkata (1).

India: Hindu Extremists Pass Laws Restricting Christianity

Christians in India are facing threats as Hindu extremists have taken over village councils to pass laws restricting religions other than Hindu. The laws reportedly make Christian prayer, meetings, and literature illegal, and non-Hindu missionaries are now banned in 50 towns. Though India’s constitution guarantees citizens freedom of religion, state government authorities in Chhattisgarh have not intervened with the new laws.
